Hand sanitiser deep design thinking

"Update! We had to change the material to PE due to rising cost material and pandemic levels are down therefore it was economically not feasible. We only wished we could sustain our bold ambition financially. Though our biggest wish "

You already know the function why you want to buy a hand sanitiser. To keep yourself safe. But there is more than meets the eye.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies joined the league of sanitiser producers using the WHO and CDC recommendations. But what made us stood out is our approach.

Back story message from producers and designers:

How would Elon Musk design a hand sanitiser? Well, we can estimate that he would make it look like a rocked two, make it ecologically efficient as possible and affordable. Our hand sanitiser fulfilled all these criteria. Here are the details:

Not All Sanitisers Are Made Equal.
Some Are More Equal Than Others.

Backstory

We launched our brand in February as the first and foremost cosmetic and supplement producer. Sanitizers weren't part of the plan. But we could do so and was a much-needed solution that people needed to stay alive.

We made it a point of duty to recommend to other partners that we shred the profit idea and sell as low as possible that we have enough to run business and stay afloat while still ensuring that the losses are effective kept a bay until the pandemic is over.

The upside for us is that while we take that hit as the cost of doing business, we consider the profit side for us is brand awareness. Most people may not be aware of this gesture, but whatever we can do to be part of the solution is enough reward.

Ethanol vs Bioethanol

Ethanol became expensive and in short supply. Bioethanol was used in place and readily available for Breweries and Beer makers. Don't be surprised if you find your hands smelling a little strange after using some hand sanitizers. Bioethanol is also cheaper compared to the now scarce ethanol. However, we still use the normal ethanol you know that won't make your hands smell strange. Despite that, we are maintaining that low price point close to the cost of production and transportation.

Mathematical Cost

If we put all these maths into the economics of running our factory we will need to sell sanitizer at 4x the current price for less than 8 oz ± 2 to make a profit and stay afloat. It does get tricky between being charitable while ensuring the company does not collapse in debt.

Why Are Hand Sanitisers In Plastics When Your Beer With 10% Max Alcohol Are Not?

This was the first question by our design team. Our design team have a background in Mechanical Engineers that thought considered the seal design and Environmental Engineers that looked at the sustainability aspect such as climate change, recycling and end-use disposal of the sanitiser container.

We thought that the prevalence of hand sanitizers in plastic will present the world with more plastic trash that ends up in the ocean. A complete reversal of the gains we will get from the lockdown!

You may well ask when was the last time you bought a beer packaged and preserved in a plastic container? Why are sanitizers in plastic bottles? !!! A question no one is asking now. But we did.

There is a reason why your beer, wine, spirits and alcohol, in general, are not packed in plastic containers. Therefore ±60% alcohol should not. It is not a cola or soda!

Environmental Factor:

Our sanitizer is packaged in the most expensive material, ALUMINIUM, but sold at the same price as the rest maker or sellers that package them in cheap plastics that also contain chemical additives. Perhaps they don't care!

Design – We Care and A Lot!

We use aluminium which is a far more expensive material, but environmentally, pays itself back since its metal material the most recycled waste material often in demand for recycling and evergreen due to the number its reusability.

Furthermore, there is a reason your perfumes are not packed in plastic bottles! It's more than aesthetics. Think. Alcohol (ethanol) is going to vaporise constantly.

Most bottle cap design for hand sanitizers allow dissipation of alcohol strength quickly that it loses strength in a short time. For us, we wanted a bottle design to maximise the most important content, alcohol the strength in the sanitizer.

Prevent Recontamination

We added the possibility to wash the body of the bottle in total immersion underwater without risk of leaks or damage to the dispenser lid. Most sanitizers have these spring-based cap cover that is used for dispensing liquid soap! From all test of the seal we have was the best that holds out water from sipping in easily. Also its more difficult to damage or destroy.

Despite all these put together, we are selling our sanitiser for less while most of the competitors went into price gouging and selling it 3x higher.

We are glad we maintained an ethical stance in fair pricing because we are humans and in this together!

Beauty, well-being and luv. Made in the EU.

- luv, A
